President Obama’s speech Thursday to the House Democrats was as partisan as one can get. He not only derided the Republicans seeking a bill with less non-stimulus spending, he ridiculed them with half truths. He never once acknowledged the amount of non-stimulus content in the proposed bill – surely he know that a goodly portion of this bill is social engineering. He says he needs the bill to put 3 million Americans back to work – the math says that he is paying $300,000 for each of the 3 million workers he wants to put back to work. $300,000 to create one job? Who is he kidding? This bill has no provision to help those who are still paying their mortgage, but are trapped in their homes in upside down mortgage equity situations and it only modestly attempts to attack the soft real estate market, which is a root cause of the economic crisis we are trying to solve.
