MoveOn.Org is blaming John McCain for the mortgage crisis meltdown. If you are interested in reality, keep reading. McCain co-sponsored a bill to regulate the problem in 2005, yes more than three years ago.

An alternative to the massive mortgage bailout!

Our lawmakers and administration people are trying to use $700 Billion of our money to bailout firms due to the mortgage meltdown and the collapse of the mortgage back securities market. They are simply working from the wrong end of the pipe. They need to address the problem at its source. The failed performamce of these securities brought about by a weakened economy increased foreclosure rates thus precipitating a steep decline in property values. This has undermined these securitized mortgage instruments. There is an alternative. We can stimulate home resales, reduce supply, and increase demand, thus raising real estate values and thus the value of the securitized assets. This will add stability to the financial markets, and ultimately will cost of a fraction of what our leaders are willing to spend on a plan that has little chance of working.

Throw Dem Bum Out! This is an old refrain about Congress and many other organizations. I will be more polite. Let us not renew the contracts of those in Congress, since they clearly hold party above country.

Thus deregulation. Did this mean that banks would no longer be regulated? No. Did this mean that bank regulators would go away? No. It simply meant that banks could enter the brokerage and insurance businesses to a small degree, with restrictions. This deregulation had nothing to do with the mortgage businesses of any bank or non-bank financial lending company.
Is Sarah Palin’s Fifteen Minutes of Fame Up?

I am sure that Palin will survive the MSM onslaught, because she is your worst nightmare – an inteligent, attractive, stable married woman, with an attentive supportive husband and five beautiful children, with one serving in Iraq as an army volunteer, and no attempt at abortion for her daughter or for herself. What must really stick in the throat of all the leftist journalists is that despite all that has happened in Palin’s life, she seems to be a happy, contented, focused person. Now how can this be – is there life outside of liberal feminism?

After we watched the interview, I asked her what she thought of the interview. She told me that she found Gibson to be highly pompous and denigrating to Palin. She further stated that it appeared that he held preconceived notions of what Palin’s answers should be. My wife stated that Gibson’s repeated attempts to ask Palin whether she was ready to be Vice-President, despite getting an answer at the first attempt, and telling her that her her answer demonstrated hubris, was just not right.

The Gang of 16 proposal for drilling, renewable energy, and conservation enhancement is a good start. However, it misses a key economic issue.
